I drive an older 90's era Lincoln Town Car with a 5.0L V8. Paid $1900 for it. The previous owner got 20 MPG. I immediately was getting 24 MPG and currently getting 26.4 MPG. I know plenty of people driving 4 cylinder Hondas and Toyotas that get poorer mileage. I like rear wheel drives because I do my own maintenance and most repaire myself

Some info. I have used that might be helpful:
1. Ask the dealer if they have a "Demo" to sell. This can save you Depriceation costs, give you a well cared for car, usually very low mileage, and full warrentees in effect.
2. Never shop for a car on the weekend. (Or Wednesday when all the Doctors shop).
3. To sharpen your edge in a haggel situation: Get other dealers to write there "offer" on there Business card, and don't be afraid to show the offers to competors.
4. Know that you are within your rights to ask what the dealer PAID for a used car. Some will refuse to tell you...end of talking to those types. In some cases the General sales manager will be sent to you, and that guarentes an immidate price break, at least. Have the manager write this price down on HIS/Her Business card. Keep shopping until most of what you want is incorperated in the car you intend to buy. It is a buyers market now.
