The chill sure wreaks havoc on your lips. Maintain their supple softness by preparing ahead for the season…
What you won’t give for an irresistible mouth? But making your lips luscious is easier said than done, especially during the winter. There are many reasons why lips chap. Here are the basic ones.
- Exposure to sun and wind, especially dry air
- Allergies to some cosmetics
- Dehydration
- Allergic reaction to certain tropical skin medicines
THE DOS
- Apply lip balm or lipstick before stepping out.
- Choose a lip balm with sunblock.
- Drink plenty of fluids, including at least 1 ½ litres of water every day.
- Include fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables in your daily diet.
- Apply a blend of milk and glycerin on your lips overnight. It cleanses and softens them.
THE DON’TS
- Avoid licking your lips. Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving your lips dry.
- Avoid using a flavored lip balm, so that leads to more lip licking.
